The Sahara Conservation Fund was established in 2004 and incorporated in the State of Missouri in 2007 as a non-profit organization. SCF is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States of America and as such all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. In the United States SCF is hosted by the Wildcare Institute of Saint Louis Zoo, through which donations can be sent.

SCF is governed by a Board of Directors and is advised by a Conservation Committee. Day-to-day, the organization is led and managed by its Chief Executive Officer from an office in Europe.
